Imagine yourself on a beautiful sandy beach while listening to soothing music on your iPod. Suddenly, your iPod’s battery dies. Aside from spilling your beer, this is the worst party fowl thinkable. Sure, you have your USB cable with you, but no computer. What ever will you do?
Have to fear, iFriends, for now there is the RichardSolo Smart Backup Battery. When I first saw this product I was a bit skeptical because of the huge amount of accessories that are a waste of money, so I went to scrutinize it, expecting an "average" product. But, just like when I thought I couldn't karaoke after a bottle of Crown Royal, I was terribly mistaken.
My iPhone stopped at the start of class while I was using it. Frantic, I plugged the RichardSolo Backup Battery into it and let it charge for a few minutes. After a good hour and a half wait the battery was up to 80%, and I was back to downloading stuff and emailing.
The battery is rechargeable through a normal wall socket and has indicator lights for the status of its charge.

The only major annoyance I have with this device is that it doesn’t hold as tight as it should to the iPhone or iPod when plugged in. You have to carefully hold them, or place them on a flat surface, to make sure it doesn’t fall out.
The Smart Backup Battery will run you $49.95 - putting quite the price on convenience.
