Mac OS 10.6 to be Unveiled with the iPhone?

2008/06/09

I guess with all of the hype surrounding the soon to be 3G iPhone some have forgotten that it has been almost 8 months since the last big cat (10.5 Leopard) was released by Apple. It is about time to see some new stuff on the OS side of things, and WWDC seems to be just the place to do that. While 10.6 is not expected to be as huge as 10.5 focusing mainly on stability and security, it is a “major upgrade” as they like to call these things, and so I am sure there will be a few juicy new features to play with.

Rumor has it that if Apple stays on its current release schedule we can expect to see the release of 10.6 in January 2009, or about 7 months after WWDC. That would be 15 months or so after 10.5 was released. The earliest we could see 10.6 would be in October, and the latest would put it out in April of 2009.

Again, WWDC is June 9th, and I will be following those events very closely so keep it here then for the latest. What are some things you would like to see in 10.6, and what cat do we have left. 10.6 Lion?
