Texas Instruments has announced that its OMAP2430 applications processor was selected to deliver advanced multimedia capabilities to Fujitsu's new F1100 smartphone.
The new Fujitsu handset, which also uses Texas Instruments's (TI) Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity technology, is claimed to be the first Microsoft Windows Mobile phone available with NTT DoCoMo's FOMA technology.
Fujitsu's 3G F1100 handsets use the OMAP2430 processor to deliver audio, video and imaging capabilities, including a QVGA display, 1.3 megapixel camera capabilities and a microSD card slot. The phone also leverages TI's BlueLink Bluetooth and WiLink Wi-Fi (a/b/g) solutions for connectivity capabilities.
Raj Talluri, worldwide general manager for cellular media systems solutions group at TI, said: "TI is excited to see Fujitsu leverage the capabilities of TI's OMAP technology and connectivity solutions to deliver an enhanced smartphone user experience. We are pleased to expand our relationship with Fujitsu and help them continue to deliver leading-edge phones that meet the needs of data-hungry consumers."
